Art Educator

This past May I received a degree in Early Childhood Education at John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH.  Four years ago, after my first field experience in a classroom, I knew I wanted to be an educator.  As a kid, I was always intrigued by the vast amount of colors, shapes, and patterns around me.  After living and studying in London, England for four months in 2008 and visiting the Tate Modern, I grew a strong love for modern and abstract art.

I follow a child-centered approach in my teaching and will continue to be a facilitator in the classroom, allowing the children to be the innovators of art. As a facilitator, I encourage children to be creative in their work and to explore old and new ways to represent the world around them.  The child-centered approach allows children to be the creators and each child is seen as a unique individual.  Children can take their own experiences and conceptions of the world and represent those thoughts and ideas in their own art form, using a number of different mediums.
